Suggest Treatment For Severe Bronchitis And Cold

Hello. Today is day 11 since the day I began a cold to now I have bronchitis. I have seen the doctor twice. Yesterday, they gave me a breathing treatment as my peak flow personal best was 250. It remained the same after, but they prescribed me steroids and antibiotics and sent me on my way. Also, they did an xray on my chest and saw only bronchitis and no pneumonia. Now, as usual, I woke up in the middle of the night with a coughing attack. I went to the restroom as usual to try to spit out any mucus I could. This time, something different happened though. When I coughed, it resulted in my forearms going numb, and it s not going away. It s been about an hour, and they stI ll feel numb.. but a little tingly as well. What is causing this? Am I getting enough oxygen? I live alone.. am I safe without monitoring of this illness?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe bronchitis and cold which could be due to upper respiratory tract infection along with impaired immunity of body and increased susceptibility of getting infected.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles alternatively and avoid eating spicy and heavy food. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory Levocetirizine and prescribe you inhalers as well. You should start on continuous use of inhalers for few days and gradually slow it down once your condition will be better.
