Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 90 year old mother has shingles and gout lately she has had a lot of trouble walking now she has severe chills and can t quite get warm. she is on blood pressure medicine a d heart meds. and border line diabetic.. what can I do for her to help her? She was given a med called Neurontin100 mg.s and ultram for shingles several days ago and had to stop taking it because she couldn t keep her balance. She now also has a bad cough.
The bad cough may be contributing to her chills, it would be best for this to be assessed to see if it is a bacterial infection requiring antibiotic therapy.
If this is ruled out by an assessment by her doctor, he or she may also check her thyroid status. Low levels of thyroid hormone can also cause cold intolerance.
I hope this helps
