I am a 23 year old female. I have been experience heart pain, light headedness, and shortness of breath at different times throughout the day and night. my heart starts racing and i find it hard to breath and I feel like I am going to faint. I have been to the doctor. They took chest x-ray and blood work and cannot find anything wrong.
Your symptoms could be related to a panic disorder. But, before coming into this conclusion, I would recommend performing some tests to investigate for other possible causes:
- a cardiac rhythm Holter monitoring to investigate for possible cardiac arryhtmia - a cardiac ultrasound - a chest X ray study and pulmonary function - blood electrolytes - thyroid hormone levels - complete blood count, sedimentation rate and PCR for inflammation. If all these tests result normal, you should consider anxiety as the main cause of your complaints.
