Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection With Blood Phlegm

I have sinus issues and get infections easily. For the past three weeks I ve had lots of post nasal drip and sometimes it feels like its stuck the back of my throat/nose. I can usually snort and suck to get it out and when I spit it is a bloody red color and really thick. I drink lots of water and don t smoke. Should I go in or just let it run it s course?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to postnasal drip.
I suggest to use an over-the-counter decongestant like Sudafed to help reduce congestion and eliminate postnasal drip.
Antihistamines like loratadine-pseudoephedrine (Claritin) can work to get rid of postnasal drip.
However, these are more effective after you take them for several days.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
