Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Cough

Hi, I ve been sick for the past 2 weeks now. I woke up one morning with a sore throat that lasted 2 or 3 days. On the 2nd day I was showing signs of a cold, stuffy nose and a cough. After taking a few cold medicines, the stuffy nose cleared but the cough stayed. It was more of a dry/irritated cough. I started talking allergy medicine but a few days ago my cough turned into a congested cough and I developed a sinus congestion. I started talking congestion medicine but it only seemed to lower the symptoms, though not completely, only during the day. Yesterday, any amount of medicine/vitamins stopped working. My cough became more persistent and mucus has grown thicker or more stuck, the back of my throat near the uvula now has tiny red veins around the top. Any ideas what might be going on?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of growing pharyngeal problems with coughing, hard to remove phlegm, sinus congestion and so on in spite of medicines.
This indicates that there is an infection in some part that needs to be diagnosed and treated.
Consult an ENT Surgeon for proper clinical examination, ENT Endoscopy and get further investigations as mentioned below:
Blood tests for CBC, diabetes and as needed.
CT scan of sinuses helps a lot for internal
Once diagnosed you may need additional treatment with an anti-inflammatory medicine, antibiotics and so on along with anti-cold medicines.
Use Nasal decongestant drops followed by plain water steam inhalation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
