Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Cough

I've just returned from a holiday in Spain and on the last 2 days I developed a sore throat and now have a really bad cheery cough. It's knocked me for six. Welcome in H.C.M.

Regarding your query for treatment of sore throat with chery coloured cough and litharginess.

According to your symptoms it appears as you are suffering from acute upper respiratory tract infection. To confirm the diagnosis and for treatment point of view you should do-

1- Culture and sensitivity of sputum.

2- Gram's staining of sputum.

3- X-Ray paranasal sinuses.

4- X-Ray chest.

5- Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar (fasting & post parendial).

For getting relief you may take-

a- Warm saline gargling.

b- Tab paracetamol.

c- Anti histaminic and decongestant.

d- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

Probably you will feel better with above coservative treatment but unfortunately if you are not getting desired responce than you have to consult your ENT doctor along with above investigation reports.
