Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Hand Joints

I just turned 50, my joints in my hands are sore at times. My internist was pretty passive about my concerns ... Mentioned I could have X-ray done, but forgot to pursue. I reminded him later that day .. he said next visit, which will be a year. I said is there something I can take to help slow arthritis if this is what it is? He said no. I'm an active 50 yr old with young children. What should I do?

hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Health Care Magic, and i understand your concern.
Considering your age the cause for the soreness in your joints could be due to arthritis, and i suggest you to get a blood test done to rule out rheumatoid arthritis.
If the pain get worse you could take NSAID'S like celebrex, ibuprofen or indomethacin tablets for pain relief.

To prevent joint destruction you could consider taking methotrexate/ hydroxychloroquine after consulting your orthopedician.
Hope this helps, write back to us if you have further queries .
Wish you good helath.
