Suggest Treatment For Splotchy And Swollen Legs After Getting A Sun Burn
Hi, I just returned from a beach vacation. Last Monday, I got sunburned pretty bad on my legs eventhough I used sunscreen, I apparently didn t reapply enough. I went out again on Wednesday but had on plenty of sunscreen and mostly stayed under an umbrella. On my way home on Friday my feet and legs swelled huge. Today is Sunday, my legs look purple and will swell if I am on my feet at all. My legs lood more splochy instead of solid red/purple so I feel they are getting better, but today is the first day they have looked purple. They still are very painful. Any advise? I am 41, I have Fibromyalgia and am on severl medications. I have tried to see if any of my medications make you sensative to the sun, but I haven t found anything.
Hello, Thank you for posting on HCM. Acute sun burns are sometimes frightening but nothing to worry as its pretty easy to manage. Generally, I advise short course of prednisolone along with local application of mometasone cream and soothing calamine lotion twice a day. Antihistaminics and antioxidant tablets can additionally be added. Use high SPF broad spectrum sunscreen everytime before going out in sun. Cold sponging will definitely help. Hope this will take care of your issue. Wish you best of health. Thank you Dr Hardik Pitroda M.D Dermatology
