Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was in horrible pain on his right side and vomiting. Went to hospital and ran test, ultrasound, catscan, mag3, and urine tests. No blood in the urine and suspect stones didn't show up. Mag3 showed urine didn't completely drain from right kidney. That my son most likely has or gets some kind of crimp in his ureter causing the urine not to completely drain. Dr suggest surgery to repair the ureter even thought their is no imaging evidence of a problem. Thinking back, my son has had this problem since he was very young, but it never got this bad. My son after four days feel completely fine. I am supposed to be scheduling surgery, I just wonder could there be some other underlying problem. Any advice?
Thanks for the query. It may be obstructive uropathy which is a condition in which the flow of urine is blocked. In children structural abnormalities for example, birth defects such as valves in the urethra and other constrictions that narrow or block the ureter or urethra cause this type of problem. I suggest you to go for surgery as advised by your treating doctor to prevent further complication. Hope i helped you.
