Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain, Bloating, Gas, Constipation, And The Inability To Eat Normal Quantities Of Food

Have had stomach pain for a while. Bloating, gas, constapation, fullness, not being able to eat much. Am taking cefoidoxime for bladder infection and previously was on Macrobid (generic). This started while I was on the Macrobid. When I have a bowel movement it helps for a while. I am on Mira-Lax 1x a day. What do I need to do?

Hi,

The symptoms you are experiencing, such as stomach pain, bloating, gas, constipation, and fullness, can be related to several conditions, including a bladder infection or antibiotic-associated diarrhea, which may be caused by the antibiotics you are taking. However, these symptoms can also be caused by other gastrointestinal conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

I recommend speaking with your healthcare provider about your symptoms, especially since they started while you were taking antibiotics. They may recommend stopping the current antibiotic and switching to a different one, or taking a probiotic supplement to help restore the natural balance of bacteria in your gut. They may also want to perform additional testing to evaluate for other potential causes of your symptoms.

In the meantime, you can try to manage your symptoms by continuing to take the Mira-Lax as prescribed, staying hydrated, eating smaller and more frequent meals, avoiding trigger foods that exacerbate your symptoms, and practicing stress-reducing techniques such as deep breathing or meditation.

It's important to seek medical attention if your symptoms worsen, if you develop new symptoms, or if you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, or rectal bleeding.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
