Suggest Treatment For Stricture After Undergoing Total Gastrectomy

My husband has had a total gastrectomy for stomach cancer. The cancer is no longer detectible , however he has a stricture in the anastomosis which opens when dilated, but does not stay open. He has had 15! dilations so far. Also had a stent inserted, but it seems his body rejected it and he became quite ill until the stent was removed. Do you have any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read your history and understood the concerns.
When there is stricture formation and that is not amenable to 15 dilatation and stent caused complications, the best way is to consult a Surgical Gastroenterologist and get the re-do of the stricture in the form of stricturoplasty or to create fresh anastomosis.
Proper nutrition, maintenance of normal hemoglobin and serum proteins along with therapeutic dosages of Vitamin A and D Helps in better recovery.
If possible a bypass surgery also can be contemplated.
