Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruises On Finger

43 years old. Ring finger got caught somehow putting bike front tire on. Heard a snap sound from finger when finger dip hyperextended. Xray negative. Two weeks splint. Still swelling and bruising after 5 days ibuprofen 800. Do I still continue with the splinting?

Hello,
I think you have developed mallet finger. In this condition there is tendon injury and that causes pain and swelling that lasts for some time three to four weeks. I would suggest you to continue wear splint for two more weeks. Burden needs to be continued 400 mg twice daily for seven to eight days.
