Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Ankle After Injury

I recently hurt my ankle. I was able to still walk on it and my school trainer said it was not broken. I have been icing and resting it and swelling has gone down. There is still quite a bit of bruising, but nothing like it was. It appears to be on the inside of my ankle, and is tender around the ankle bone. I can walk normally on it as long as i center my weight on my foot and don t shift it to the inside. It happened about a week ago and recently I have begun to have pains that feel like cramping around my ankle on the inside. Is this normal? How can I stop them?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and i think you might have ligament injury to ankle or hair line fracture. I would suggest you to get x ray of the ankle joint to confirm the diagnosis. If there is fracture than you will need splinting.
If there is no fracture and only ligament damage than also you should avoid putting weight and continue with ice application and compression bandage.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
