Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Toe While Wearing Boots

A friend injured his small toe about four weeks ago but it is still swollen. He is able to stand but the biggest problem is wearing steel toe boots for twelve hours a day. What should he do to alleviate the swelling and pain while he wears his boots? How long does it take for it to heal?

Hello,

As the symptoms are of pain and swelling I will advise modifying the shoes if needed because most times it can happen even with the shoe over compression and venous return is disturbed. Regularly removing the shoes every 2-3 hours will be a good choice for now. Hot water fermentation and elevation is choice after the removal of shoes in the evening or morning time. Also, don't apply too much weight on the injured part. Have a check of your heart once if you are above 40+.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
