Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Stiffness In Knee After An Injury

I twisted my knee while on a cruise.. because we had tours planned etc... I walked more than I normally do.. the pain was huge but I did it anyway.. it's now 6 weeks later and today my knee is swollen and very stiff and sore.. how long is the healing process and what can I do to hurry it along?
