Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Stiffness In The Knee

My 18 year old son was helping me remove some boards from an outside deck when he got a puncture wound from a nail and a piece of wood just below his knee. It bled some and he continued to work. Later in the day, he noticed some swelling and stiffness in the knee. He is experiencing some pain when attempting to bend his knee. He has been putting ice on it and elevating it this evening. What else do you recommend? je

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the knee injury then great care need to be taken for infection is the wound is deep then better to see the doctor it is even advisable to start the anti-biotic and best would be Amoxicillin 500 mg three times in day, but it is most important to see the doctor to examine the nature of wound hope this information helps.
I find this answer helpful
