Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking narcaria retard 20 Mg and Envas 5 Mg for hypertension twice a day for the last 15 years. My BP is normal but now my legs swell. Now my Vitamin D levels are said to be very low. Can i take shell cal os with the above medicines and what remedial measures for swelling of legs?
As you are on a cardiac Medicine for long years, it is suspected that there will be a weakness of the venous return through the lower limbs.
You can take vitamin D3 , Shelcal and regular medications together once you figure the exact dosage after having a discussion with a cardiologist.
Also, you need to exercise regularly as something called a chair aerobics which will help improve the cardiac functions and improve the venous return too.
In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most long-standing hypertensive cases are under modified aerobic which has helped improve the lifestyle and reduced the symptoms of swelling, pain, tiredness, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
