Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Bruised Shin After A Fall
Hi I fell yesterday whilst using a spade & as I fell I hit the front of my shin with the spade. It swelled immediately & the skin broke with the swelling so I applied an ice pack to the area. It s still very swollen after being elevated all night & is painful to weight bear. I also have pain in my knee, ankle & calf but I m presuming this is referred pain? Is it advisable to get it checked out & x rayed? With thanks XXXX

It may be due to injury.
For that you may require x ray shin after orthopedic surgeon consultation.
Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.
For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.
Use support while walking.
Avoid strenuous activity.
