Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Back After A Fall

I had a bad fall 2 weeks ago where I fell running backwards and when I hit the ground I snapped my head back so hard it hit the ground, whiplash. It has been two weeks and I still have many times where sitting, walking, going up and down stairs, reaching, lying down and many other things cause so much pain in my back that it stops me in my tracks. I am very sore and in pain between those stop me in my tracks times. I am swollen in my upper neck area and back. Do I need to go get x-rays or other tests or just continue to rest it while applying ice and heat?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think it will be better for you to get x ray of the neck to make sure that every thing is normal with the bone. I will offer following advises.
1. Soft cervical collar
2. Tablet Myospaz daily
3. Hot water fomentation
4. Volini gel local application
5. Avoid using very high pillow and jerky activity.
I hope these steps will help you. Let me know if there is any other folow up questions.
Thanks.
