Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Jaw

The left side of my jaw is very painful and swollen just under the ear at the jawline. I had extreme difficulty chewing dinner. This side of jaw and ear are very warm to the touch while the other side is cool. When looking in the mirror there is definite swelling under the jaw bone.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
The swelling is likely to be due to an infection in the area or abscess formation. The pus inside may need to be drained with a small nick in case the pain and swelling are gradually increasing.
This will need anti inflammatory medicines like ibuprofen and oral antibiotics to control the infection. The presence of any foreign body in the area needs to be ruled out after a direct examination.
It is best to consult a doctor for proper management and antibiotics
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
