Suggest Treatment For Swollen Feet And Ankles

I was on vacation and spent four days hiking. Then spent over 12 hours traveling in a car. The balls of my feet are sore. Feet and ankles are are swollen. Both issues make it miserable to walk. I ve soaked my feet in cool water and have them elevated. What else can be done?

Hi,

You may be having dependent oedema in both feet. Measure to reduce it are:
1. Keep both limbs elevated on two pillows during sleep.
2. While sitting on daytime keep feet on a stool.
3. Apply crepe bandage or stockings.
4. Keep moving ankle and knee which improves venous drainage to heart. Swelling will reduce in a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jayesh Vaza,
