Suggest Treatment For Swollen Testicle In Baby

My 16 month son has swollen right testicle. It feels like fluid in there. He doesnt seem to feel any discomfort when I pushed on it. He is coming off of a cold tonsilitis. We took him to the pediatrician but when he was there there was no swelling at the time. It seems to come and go.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possibility of an orchitis or torsion must be ruled out. An ultrasound scrotum with Doppler is required to make a diagnosis. Surgical correction is required in case of torsion (twisting of testis) whereas antibiotics will be the treatment of choice for orchitis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
