Suggest Treatment For Swollen Thighs After Injury.
Hi, I recently fell of a horse and as I landed I got trod on by the horse on my inner upper right thigh. I first had lots of pain and I could not walk on it and every time I moved it I was in loads and loads of pain I then put some ice on it and it was better but it has now been 3 days and I still have a dull ache and difficulty walking and straightening my leg and it feels very stiff. However there has been no bruising at all but there was sweing... What have I done? Thanks.
As this fall has landed in the muscle injury. Straightening the knee will be difficult due to excessive muscle action. You need to wait for a week or so and till then continue icing to reduce pain but also use hot water fermentation to relax the muscles too.
Post 7-10 days you can start slow and low-intensity static quadriceps, static hamstring, straight leg raise, lunges and half squats. This should help regain the strength in the muscles and allow the knee to be flexible. Trying hot relax and contract-relax techniques will help improve the knee range of motion too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
