Suggest Treatment For Uncontrolled Diabetes

i am a male aged 32 years.i was diagnosed with high sugar of 270 fasting which resulted as type 2 diabeties and medication was started. After few days of medication the fasting has come to normal but the post prandial is still somewhere in the range of 160. I have started following diet plan and exercises. so just wanted to now if the medication is working fine or needs a change since the PP values are still more than 140?

Hello,
if you've achieved a normal fasting glucose then you're on the right track.
Fasting glucose targets are ideally between 80-120 mg/dL. Since you're young you should aim for the lowest possible blood sugar, than won't cause frequent hypoglycemia to you (less than 100 mg/dL). Postprandial glucose targets are blood sugars below 180mg/dL. Of course your age is a reason to try an even better glucose regulation. The ideal would be a blood glucose level around 140mg/dL if it wouldn't cause too much hypoglycemia.
Glucosylated hemoglobin is a very useful laboratory parameter that signifies success or failure of diabetes treatment. I'm sure you'll be within the target limits of less than 7%. Some doctors insist for a more aggressive approach but solid data supporting this approach are lacking. Actually there is evidence that a very aggressive approach may lead to more hypoglycemia without substantial benefit.
I believe I've given you some insight on treatment evaluation.
If you have more questions on the subject, I'll be glad to answer.
