Good Morning doctor, I am Rajeeb from Cuttack,Orissa.My father Mr J.N.Nanda aged 71 years last month diagonised with UB TUMOR which was opearted at Cuttack.After biopsy it was found to be high grade non invasive cancer.We then rushed to TATA MEDICAL CENTER,KOLKATA where Dr Satyadeep Mukherjee again make TUR and after the report came he suggested now for bladder removal. Pl doctor,I need your help.After ct scan now there is no tumor or anything.My father is presently ok without any problem.Our doctor at CUTTACK Dr Sabyasachi Panda advised us not to go for bladder removal.Rather he suggested for bcg with intraferon treatment.Now I am confused.Which should be better for my father.In this age will he be able to sustain sucha surgery. Hello Rajeeb and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern. Bladder tumor is of two types: (1.)superficial and (2.)deep or invasive. Treatment is different in each type. The biopsy report along with CT scan, and risk factors help decide line of further treatment. BCG is given only in superficial tumor. No interferon. To give you an expert advice, you should send me, the biopsy report of TATA hospital, CT scan, and present medication, as a direct question, in my name. Dr.Matthew J.Mangat.
