Suggest Treatment For Urinary Incontinence

My Dr. gave me oxybutynin er 5mg tab to take once a day for bladder control. I have been on it a week and it has not worked at all? I have no control over my bladder, and this medicine is not working at all! I am 66 years old and I need a life. I have to wear diapers day and night. Can I up the dosage and take twice a day? I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much. Bonnie Hamilton

Urologist 's  Response
hello
Thanks for query .
You have not mentioned your gender in your query .

Assuming that you are female The urgency for urination that you have is due to UTI secondary to post menopausal (Senile ) Urethral stenosis that is common in females at this age .

consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Endoscopic evaluation and calibration of urethra
4) Urodynaemic study of bladder .

In the mean while start taking Darifenacin once daily along with antibiotics like Cefixime and Nitrofurantoin twice daily .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
