Suggest Treatment For Vomiting And Headaches Without Fever

my 18yr old daughter has a headache since 11pm last night. Vomiting at 1am and 330am. It was about 530 that she woke up, ate a little and is sleeping again-with still a headache. She had given up candy for Lent-40 days and ate a lot of sweets yesterday-can that contribute? No fever.

Hi,

It is possible that consuming a large number of sweets could contribute to a headache and vomiting, particularly if your daughter is not used to consuming that much sugar. However, it is also possible that these symptoms could be caused by a viral illness or migraine headache.

Here are some suggestions to help alleviate the symptoms of headache and vomiting:
* Encourage rest: Make sure your daughter is getting plenty of rest and is lying down in a quiet and dark room, as this can help alleviate headache symptoms.
* Keep her hydrated: Vomiting can lead to dehydration, so make sure your daughter is drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolyte solutions like Pedialyte.
* Consider over-the-counter medication: If your daughter's headache is mild to moderate, you can give her acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil) to help relieve the pain. However, be sure to follow the dosage instructions on the label.
* Use cold or heat therapy: Applying a cold compress or a warm compress to the forehead or neck can help alleviate headache symptoms.
* Contact a healthcare professional: If your daughter's symptoms persist or worsen, or if she develops a fever, contact a healthcare professional for evaluation.

In summary, it is possible that your daughter's symptoms could be related to consuming a large number of sweets, but it is also important to rule out other potential causes. Encourage rest and hydration, consider over-the-counter medication, and seek medical attention if her symptoms persist or worsen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
