Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter had small white little worms several months ago, the e.r doctor gave her a few pills to take in a few days and I kept every thing clean and washed and have them practice good hygene...then about a month later my younger son got them too, took him to his pediatrician and they only gave him one pill, I read they should get two treatment of pills to help prevent any reinfestation for any hatched worm eggs, but they said no, one pill will do it....now a month later and I find a dead worm in her stool....what should I do? It s an embarrassing thing and I m so tired of worrying about my kids dealing with this.
Worm infestation in a child is unavoidable because we could not stop them from playing with objects. Any object having contact with the floor will have hidden worm eggs that gets inside child's stomach through hands.
So the main concern should be on hand and mouth. Make them to avoid playing in soil and soiled objects.
Stop them from nail-biting, hand chewing. Thorough hand washing after playing and before eating anything is must.
Rapid washing may leave some germs on hand. Teaching them proper handwashing using photos may produce good results.
In addition to above, deworming syrup or tablet every 4 months irrespective of worms in them will be the best treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
