Suggest Treatment For Worms With Excessive Hunger And Sweet Craving

Hello doctor.. I am a 37 year old woman..I had passed a large tapeworm back in around 2003. Now again, I have symptoms of excessive hunger, sweet cravings, late staiety and they are the same symptoms I had during my previous worm passage. Now again I feel I might have worms. I have taken one albendazole tablet with a laxative. Should I take more? Is a test necessary for determining the worms or can it be taken over-the-counter?

Hi...If you have worm infestation one dose of albendazole 400mg would be fine. But if you continue to pass worms or symptoms you can take a course of mebendazole 100mg twice daily for 3 days. The symptoms which you have mentioned are nonspecific and may not be related to worm infestation. To confirm infection you can get a stool examination for ova/cysts, which will give you a confirmatory test
