Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had stage iv colon cancer where chemo, surgery & radiation were required to remove tumor. A couple yrs after that (actually in January 2015) he had a small intestinal resection because of the radiation, surgeries etc that developers td adhesions. They also had to cut thru mesh that had been placed during a hernia repair. It is now only 4 months later & he's got another blockage. Are there any options in order to avoid another surgery that are available. He's losing weight & very discouraged at this date. Thank you. Dolores
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I appreciate your concern regarding your husband. I will advise to give no fibres in diet to avpid blockage. Also these days narrowing can be dilated with balloon without going any surgery blockage can be opened. So discuss with your doctor regarding balloon dilatation. I am Dr.Amit Jain (DM, Gastroenterologist). I hope I have answered your query. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Wish you a good health
