Suggest Treatment To Increase Height

hello doctor,
my son who's age is 25 year, he is short in height ,most of the relative advise us to give him hieght capsule and other medicine which can be seen generally on various news paper......iwould like to ask tht this type of medicine is realy hlp ful to grow hieght?

Thank you for your question. I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson. Boys generally grow faster than girls and achieve their definite adult height between the ages of 18 and 21 years. Some only add a few centimeters to their height after the age of 21 and increase in height stops at 25 years. This is due to the fact that cartilage of long bones which are the site of growth fuses completely between the above age range in boys. I would say medications to increase height are available and these are growth hormones but they have to be administered early on in childhood. As for your son, he is already far beyond the age for administration of these medications. You simply have to advise him to be comfortable with his height, he might be in to a very satisfying life after all. Best Regards
