Suggest Treatment To Increase The Weight In Babies
My baby is now 12 months but her weight is only 7.2 kg which I'm worrying much. I understood that big (not overweight) babies are healthier meanwhile small baby may indicate some medical or health problems. My husband and I are healthy and non-smoking. Is there anyway to boost my baby's weight or how do I encourage my baby to eat? She seems normal and active but when she sits on the high chair, she will get very fussy! Many thanks.
Hello I can understand your problem.7.2 kg weight at age of one year is less than the normal if baby was not very premature. I would suggest you to give her frequent small feeds with oil/ghee added in each feed to met her caloric demand. You should try all home foods containing cereals/pulses/fruits and vegetables(semisolid or solid form). Feed her at least 6-7 times/day.Give her milk(undiluted, full cream) two to three times/day.If you are a nonvegetarian then also try egg starting from a bit of egg white,if there is no allergy and she is tolerating well increase the amount. Give appropriate time to feed her, don't feed in hurry. You can go for investigations like iron profile and vit.D and calcium test. If it is deficient then it should be supplemented on daily basis. Don't worry much and try to spend some more time in feeding her as advised above. Regards
