Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 42 year old female who has type 2 diabetes. I am over weight 12 stone & 5ft 2". I know this is something that needs addressing & believe I have been trying. I have taken up running, swimming & cycling. My stomach is very protruding (I've lost count of the times people have assumed I'm pregnant) It does truly reseamble a 4 month baby bump! however this is the weird bit, my arms, legs & other body parts are quite slim...my stomach 'fat' is not wobbly it is quite solid. I am getting very depressed by it all, I am losing weight but my stomach remains hard & solid.....could it be anything else other than fat? As I say its not wobbly like when I had excess fat after my children.....
Hello! Thank you for writing. First of all congratulations to your dedication at exercise. Well done. It helps you with type 2 diabetes. As this kind of diabetes is insulin resistent. Your glucose is used by your muscles and insuline helps your muscles take in glucose. Latest studies show that exercise in the afternoon is better because of the circardian rythm of the muscle. Try to do abs workouts for your tummy. Do you have other symptoms? If you are concerned you can do an abdominal echo. Thank you. Best regards.
