Suggest Treatment To Reduce Weight

Dear Doctor I am a female, 30 yrs old , mother of two and currently breast feeding the younger one(2months old). My height is ~164cm and I weigh 81 kilos. I am quite concerned about my weight and would certainly wish to carry a normal weight corresponding to my height. I am presently taking thyronorm tabs (25mg) because I had a TSH level of 6 since the 2nd trimester of my pregnancy (its now 7 months since I started taking this tab). Otherwise am quite OK with no other disease condition. Kindly advice me on how to reduce my weight and whether I can b prescribed medicine for weight loss.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

At your height , an ideal weight would be around 55-60 Kgs.
You need to get rid off quite a few kilos.

It is natural to gain some weight while suffering from hypothyroidism .
Get a TSH level done every 6 months.
Visit a clinician . He/she can examine you, go through the reports and correlate clinically.

Try to maintain a balanced diet with cereals , proteins ,vegetables . Even a little oil and fat is also required. Try to eat around 4-5 fruits a day. Keep away from fried food , soft drinks . Have small meals at regular intervals.Drink loads of water. That's all about the diet.

It would be great if you could add to that a bit of physical exercise and cardio workouts like walking and jogging. Walk for at least 40 minutes a day

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
