Suggest Vaccination For Dog Bite

Good day Doc! I had dog bite last 2007 and it scares me that some friends told me that after 5 years it will take effect the dog bite...its our own dog and it has vaccinated. We take out the blood that was bitten and washed it with soap and water but we didnt got to the hospitals. Is it true that after 5 years the dog bite will take effect? ..

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
The incubation period for Rabies is 2 months to 2 years, but it may be prolonged as long as 5-10 years.
Even if you have not taken vaccine if the dog survives for 10 days after bite you need not worry. If the dog died within that period you may take vaccine now as there is remote chance of developing Rabies.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
