Surgery Is Required For ACL And Partial Meniscus Tear?

Where is the best place to find information about doctors? Our 25 year old is in another state and just got his MRI back that says he has an aCL tear and partial meniscus tear and the doctor he went to says he will need surgery. I need to make sure that the doctor and hospital are good and come with good recommendations.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The need of the surgery depends on the extent of the tear and the disability. If the tear is a partial thickness tear involving less than half of the ligament thickness, then conservative treatment may be tried.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
