Sustained A Concussion, MRI Shows Non Specific Punctuate Regions. Anything To Worry ?
Hello, I sustained a concussion a few weeks ago and have followed up with a concussion specialist that my doctor referred me to. I am seeing a physical therapist as per the doctor's orders. I have ADD and take Vyvanse which has the known side effect of hypertension.
Long story short, my concussion specialist ordered an MRI to be sure that nothing structurally was wrong with my brain. The doctor told me that there was several nonspecific punctuate legions, he was not concerned and reassured me that it was most likely an MRI error specifically. He said it's a common phenomenon that can be caused from the magnets malfunctioning or just not working correctly. The MRI magnets are from 2005, 2001 and 1997 (there was certifications for usage in the waiting room). Basically I want a second opinion, from what it sounds like there are spots on my brain. If I have a brain tumor how obvious would it be? I'm 18 years old and there is a history of cancer in the family. I was also exposed to radiation from a CAT scan(abdominal) two months ago.
Should this be something I should be concerned about?
The small puntacte legions in the brain could be vr spaces which are normal and nonspecific.some patients with migraines may have similar findings. If you are not symptomatic then you need not worry about this.If a CT brain was done it would have been normal and would not have-picked up the signals.
