Swallowed Cleaning Liquid While At Dentist. Having Hoarse Voice, Hiccups, Trouble Swallowing. Solution To Stop Hiccups?
male, 78, went to dentist , swallowed some of cleaning materials bc I wasn t able to spit out and air hose did not take care of all materials. Now hoarse, continous hiccups, trouble swallowing , been one week. Going to doctor tomorrow.. Do not drink or smoke . suggestions on how to stop hiccups and what may be causing this.
The good idea is to rule out problems with throat and upper part of the esophagus. It looks like spasms. Simple way to stop hiccups is to inhale as much air as you can. Hold breath as long as you can. During that time, rub vigorously your nose and ear lobe. Exhale forcefully. Repeat that a few times. Do it 3 times a day. If you suffer from heart or lung problems, don’t do it. In my practice, I stopped stubborn hiccups by acupuncture. So, if everything is OK, go to an acupuncturist.
I wish you will get well pretty soon.
