Swelling In Ankle Spreading To Other Places Like Fluid Retention. Suggested Signs Of Fibromyalgia. Active Lifestyle. Suggest
hi there Dr Grief...i am 31 years old, female, not overweight at all, pretty active and in average shape for my age, if not more so than most...i was told by a dr years back that i was showing all the signs/symptoms of fibromyalgia...? All the information i have been able to find still leaves me confused as to what exactly this condition is...ive recently noticed ankle swelling at the end of the days, and sometimes now all the time, its also beginning to happen other places as well, like fluid retention...?
Fibromyalgia is characterised by diffuse and widespread muscular (not joints) pains along with fatigue.
So, your symptoms of pain & swelling in the joints are not due to fibromyalgia. They could be of inflammatory nature which can happen due to many conditions and causes.
A detailed clinical examination along with hematological investigations and xrays of the involved joints may help in diagnosing your condition.
So, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
