Swelling In Feet, Ankles And Knees. On Prescription Depakote, Klonopin And Restoril Since 4 Weeks. Suggestion?

Hi, I have recently been prescribed depakote, klonopin, and restoril. I have been on the meds for about 4 weeks now, klonopin, I have taken before, but the other two are new to me. I noticed last week that my feet, ankles and knees have been experiencing swelling like I have never seen before. Today, I am putting into regimen a strict low salt diet, as little alcohol as possible, and am starting to drink tea as a natural diuretic. Other than the strange swelling, I have not experienced any other symptoms. Is this a good course of action, or are things more serious than they should be? Thank you for your time.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Depakote can sometimes be associated with peripheral edema which is swelling of the ankles and feet.
It is likely, if you have not experienced this problem prior to starting the medication, that this is the cause.

If it is not causing significant discomfort, you can consider continuing the medication.
If it is distressing you, you can speak to your doctor to see if there is an alternative that would be appropriate for you

I hope this helps
