Swelling In One Leg, Possible Nail Fungus. Stopped Taking Birth Control. What Is Wrong?

I am 46/female. I have swelling in one leg/foot. No injuryies. Did only notice big toe nail, looks to possible nail fungus, is all.
What could cause leg to swell? Diet? I am one my feet a lot for work, but do wear comfortable shoes. Did stop taking birth control resently and I have a utteran fibroid ( that has been recommend to be taking out). I didn't know if either an have an effect on leg/foot issue.

Hello,
Swelling in one foot gives a suspicion of deep venous thrombosis ( DVT ) which is very common with ladies using birth control pills.Estrogen in pills increase the stickiness of platelets and also produces chemicals which result in more formation of clots. Many a times DVT doesn't cause any symptom to the patient.
Consult your doctor for the diagnosis by getting a Doppler study done.
Thanks
