Swollen Area At Proximal Joint In Finger, Movement Causing Pain. Got Hit While Playing. Remedy?
Two weeks ago playing baseball I slide head first into second base. Afterwards my ring finger on my right hand had swollen. After a week the swelling in the tip went down, however there is still a large swollen area at the proximal joint. I am able to bend and move my finger, however it takes great effort to bend the too joint. I have tried to reset my finger in case of dislocation however nothing was accomplished. Pulling on my finger or moving it first cause great pain.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi, Thanks for your query. It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. Without an xray it is difficult to differenciate fracture from others. I suggest you get an xray done and consult your doctor for management. After xray you can contact me directly through my profile so that I can help you in better ways. Regards, Dr Saurabh gupta.
