Swollen Elbow, Painful. Diagnosed As Bacterial Infection, Iv Was Implanted, Later Given Antibiotic. Healing Period?

Three weeks ago I had a scrape on my elbow. Week later I woke up to it three times swollen. Dr. Said a bacterial infection. It thwarted off the antibiotics, so then an iv was implanted. Four days later the needle had kicked then I was prescribed another antibiotic. Now it is healing but still somewhat swollen and warm today with pain everyday. how long in reality for total recovery? What should I do at this point.
Sincerely yours
A little worried!

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
Wound healing is a multifactorial and complex process.
Healing depends on many factors.
1. Your body immune status.
2. Type of bacterial infection
3. Response of bacteria to antibiotics.
4. Antibiotic resistance.
5. Extent of involvement of wound.
6. Penetrating power of antibiotics.
7. wound care and cleaning
8. Proper antibiotic usage.

so we cannot predict the correct time for healing process.
Better have antibiotics and dressing for wound regularly.
Check antibiotic sensitivity and causative organism.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Regards,Dr.Manjeth.
