Swollen Left Ankle, Bruise In Leg. Started Counter Hair Loss Treatment, Stopped Seeing Symptoms. Taking Ibuprofin
Hi,
My left ankle on the outer side has been slightly swollen and a little red for a few days. I don't remember injuring it, however about a week ago I started over the counter hair loss treatment with 2% minoxidil. The day after I noticed the ankle issue I stopped using it. Today, I noticed two small bruises on the front of the left leg. I have tried to keep the foot mostly elevated today, and have taken OTC ibuprophen. Do you have any suggestions?

As you are using minoxidil for hair loss( local application) it can cause side effects locally and some allergic effects, if you have any.
Your history of ankle swelling and redness are in more favor of ankle ligament and bony problem as you are having on only one side. you may had unnoticed injury could be due to slip while walking or irregular steps.
Consult orthopedic surgeon for examination.
X-ray of ankle needed to see any bony injury.
Need to immobilise foot for few weeks to heel ligament injury.
You can continue your medication for hair loss.
Ibuprofen helps reduce pain.
