Swollen Shin With Pain After A Fall. Difficult To Walk, Burning Sensation. Will It Go Away With Rest?

About a week ago I fell going down some wooden stairs (falling forward) and hitting the front of my shin very hard. It is swollen and painful to the touch but does not hurt to walk on. In the evenings it gets more swollen and I also have a burning sensation and some times what feels like bee stings in the area. Will this go away with rest, etc. or should I go see my doctor? I'm female, 43, 5'6", 175 lbs.

Hello,

You had fallen and sustained an injury to the shin.
Now it is swollen and painful.
Shin is an area where there is no soft tissue covering so the bone is directly injured.
X Ray should be taken to assess the nature and extent of the injury.
Pain indicates the presence of inflammation and swelling indicates the presence of any fluid. It may be blood, if infected may become abscess.
Visit your doctor for help.
