Tailbone Pain, Difficult To Stand. History Of Blood In Urine. Related Symptoms?
My fiancé (male) has pain in his tailbone. It began as a pain in his buttocks but today he feels it primarily in his tailbone. He finds it difficult to sit/stand without pain. While this tailbone problems just began recently (within the past week) he did have an earlier episode of faint blood in his urine . He went in for his physical and his MD told him that it was probably not a problem because it never happened again and to let him know if saw it again. Well, last night he had faint blood in his urine again. Are these two symptoms related?

From history it seems pain in back might be due to some problem in his kidney as there is h/o passing blood in urine.
Go for urine for blood and any bacteria.
Go for x-ray limbo-sacral region to rule out any tail-bone problem.
If require go for ultra sound of abdomen for stones in kidney.

Pain in the tail bone (coccydynia) and blood in urine (hematuria) are not interrelated and are due to different pathologies.
A detailed investigation is necessary to establish the cause for hematuria.
The treatment for coccydynia is as follows -
* Sit completely upright with proper posture — keeping your back firmly against the chair, knees level with your hips, feet flat on the floor and shoulders relaxed
* Sitz baths (which involves soaking hips and buttocks)
* Lean forward while sitting down
* Sit on a doughnut-shaped pillow or wedge (V-shaped) cushion
* Apply heat or ice to the affected area
*Physical therapy involving strengthening of pelvic area muscles , stimulation with ultrasound therapy
* Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil)
