Taking Cymbalta For Fibromyalgia. Also Taking Furosemide, Niacin, Omega-3, Caltrate, Xopenex. Any Side Effects In Taking All Together?

I am taking 30mg of Cymbalta for fibromyalgia. I also take 40mg furosemide, Niacin 500 mg, fish oil omega-3 1000mg, and Caltrate 600+D. I am asthmatic and use a Xopenex inhalator 2 puffs every 6 hours as needed. I am wondering if these meds all work together without any future side effects. I feel fine and have been on Cymbalta for @ 6 six weeks. I recently had an epidural spinal injection with steroid. I had been in great distress with back pain and for the most part this has been of great relief to me. I am concerned about the Cymbalta because of the side effects I have read about. I am not experiencing any now. I was initially nauseated but now I am taking it with food. Does Cymbalta need to be monitored with blood work? I will not see my spinal surgeon until the middle of December. I found this site quite by accident.

Hi
Welcome to HCM
Any medicine including vitamins, nutritional supplement , herbal or any other medicines should never be taken if not really required, even when they claim that it is free of side effects. We have to prescribe medicines logically and by weighing the benefits versus side effects. I do not know, why you are taking Furosemide ? Xopenex is for moderate to severe attack of Asthma. I would suggest that you take preventive Inhaler for Asthma, so your asthma can get 100 % under control, and you may not need to take Xopenex continuously. But please mind, do not stop or do any changes without asking your Doctor. I hope your Doctor who prescribed Duloxetine ( Cymbalta) knows that you are taking Furosemide, Xopenex and other supplements. It is not a preferable combination, and if you really need to take all of them for some strong reasons, your Doctor must check your electrolytes ( Sodium, Potasium), liver function test and Renal function tests. Your Doctor should also check regularly your Blood pressure also. Duloxetine is a good medicine for Fibromyalgia, and usually after 3 months course, gradually we withdraw the medicines. There are some other medications also which should not be taken while you are taking Duloxetine, like pain killers, sleeping pills or other antianxiety medicines. I hope I have answered your question.
