Taking Omeprazole For LDR. Can I Switch To Esmoprazole After Completing Dosage For Omeprazole?
Hi - I am being treated for LDR. Having been on 2 x 20mg Omeprazole for about 1 week, my doctor has upped by dosage but prescribed Esomeprazole 40mg to be taken at night. Can I take the 40mg Omeprazole in the morning and the 40mg Esomeprasole at night or should I take 40mg AM and PM of Omeprazole until completed and then switch to the same for Esmoprasole. Thanks, Doris
You can switch over to esomeprazole which is a newer potent and long acting proton pump inhibitor. because of it being longer acting you have to take it once daily as prescribed ( before food). dont continue omeprazole along with it. both the medicines are of the same group.
