Taking Synthroid For Hypothyroidism But Unable To Manage T4/T3 Levels. How To Overcome This?
White female, age 59, post menapausal. I have hypothyroidism and problems stabilizing levels of T4/T3. T/4 levels low, however; T3 is high. Symptoms when T3 is high: armpit odor; constipation, anxious and moody. Currently on synthroid (not generic) 1 MG. Started this year at 1.25 MG (3 mos.) then 1.12 MG (3 mos.) now @ 1 MG and don't feel like myself. I've been tested for Lupus (negative) and cortisol levels normal. Any recommendations?
You are known case of Hypothyroidism and taking Thyroxine( Synthroid) supplementation, if your T3 and T4 levels are high and TSH then dose of Thyroxine needs to be reduced.
You are taking 100 microgram/day please check thyroid functions after 1 month then if levels are high your Physician can further reduce the dose.
I would suggest to use combination of T4 and T3 if fine tuning of dose is required.
Your symptoms of perspiration and anxiety can occur if your dose is high, please do not worry it can be done only thing it may take some time.
Hope this helps. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
