Taking Ibuprofen For Neck Pain And Headaches. Can I Take Cytotec To Prevent Ulcers?
I take Ibuprofen alot for neck pain/headaches and being an RN I came to find out it would be a good idea to try a medication, such a Cytotec to prevent ulcers. Is this something that can be handled on this site? I don't want to purchase internationally. I want to obtain my medications from here in the US. And I don't want to move into stronger medications, especially narcotics. Ibuprofen/ASA/etc is fine for me OTC.
Cytotec is not a good idea. It contains medicine called Misoprostol which can be also used to induce an abortion. And it is Rx only in US. Nowadays we do have many much safer medicines which can be used at your case. This medicines are called proton pump inhibitors. Omeprasole is one of such medicine. It is OTC in US. Should be used 20 mg once a day (in the morning before a meal). If you do use mentioned pain killers for quite long time, and have any abdominal pains, nausea, acid reflux symptoms, I suggest you to have your stomach controlled with gastroscopy.
Hope this will help. Regards.
